My Methamphetamine

Speedwork people. Intervals on the treadmill. Oh how I love that kind of pain. Last night I cut the grass right before it got dark then headed out for the gym. Nothing like sweating hard when you're walking INTO the gym. I hopped on the thrillmill and warmed up, then did 1k (0.6 miles) speedwork with 0.2 miles rest intervals. I set the speeds at 7.6, 7.7, 7.8, 7.9 mph for the successive intervals. Total workout was 4 miles in ~35 mins with warm up and cool down.

Today I hit some yoga this morning, tri power workout to come, and tonight is Bigun's final swimming lesson. I'm going to be able to get some laps in at the same time, so I'm looking forward to that.

In sad news, our family dog died this morning. She was 15 years old and went from natural causes. We buried her in the backyard next to a playhouse. Kelley got that dog when she was 8 weeks old, but she's been sick for the last couple of weeks so we kind of expected it was going to be soon. She's had that dog 2 years longer than she's had me. So it is sad, but it happens. You might remember from an earlier post I didn't like that dog (or almost any dog) very much. Still, when something makes the wife upset it's not something that I am going to enjoy either.

Nice work - 4 mi in 35 min?! Awesome!

Sorry to hear about the family dog. We lost one of our dogs in January, and even tho she was originally my husband's dog, it was still hard....esp to see my husband so devastated.

I am so sorry about your dog. Please send my sympathies to Kelley. Losing that first pet you had as an adult is so hard. Even though she had a good long life it doesn't seem make the loss any easier. Take care of youselves ((hugs))

So sorry about the loss of your pet! A family dog can be an extention of family and it can be just as tough a loss!

Aww, that's sad about your dog. It's hard losing family pets. My mom was beside herself when her dog had to be put down a few years ago so I can imagine how Kelley must feel.

As dumb as this sounds, you just reminded me of the TREADMILL! I've been grumbling and groaning about how hot it's been and I haven't been running because of that - duh, Amber, you have a gym membership, get your butt on the treadmill! Not ideal, but better than nothing!

Thanks for that reminder!

Sounds like you're keeping nice n busy with the workouts. 7.9 on the treadmill is a solid pace - I usually don't go over 7.5 for fear of falling off and creating an embarassing scene. But since you're a triathlete you've probably got a bit more coordination than us 100% running focused types :)

What??? You aren't a dog person? I guess I can look past that. So sorry to hear about that, I can understand how hard it is for your wife and really, you may find that you miss a little bit of the spirit round your place.

Nice job on the rub!

Sorry about the family dog; please extend my condolences to Kelley. I just barely remember my first famiy dog. I suspect I was about bigun's age and to this day, that dog has a very special place in my heart (I think this might have been because the dog would carry us kids on his back when we about 30 or 40 lbs--at least that is what I imagine I weighed at 3 or 4.

Nice job on your excellent treadmill work. I walk/jogged on the treadmill yesterday and then limped home. In fact I had such a limp my husband take care of me and brought me dinner in bed. It could have been my recent races or the cursed treadmill which I hate!
