Finally Going

Bigun LOVES her swimming lessons! Kelley came up with a plan that is quite ingenious. We can both "take" the girls to their swimming lessons. She has to be in the pool with Evil Genius, but not with Bigun. So she can watch the little one while Bigun takes her lesson, and I can sneak into a lane and get some laps in until it's time to bounce. Well, turns out that tuesday night things were a little too loud. So Kelley ended up watching the lesson and I ended up practicing with EG in the kiddie pool (which was also awesome), and I got in a whole 2 laps after they were done with the lessons. So for tonight's lesson we might be able to leave EG with a babysitter so I can get some serious laps in.

I know it's sneaky, but I really don't want to pay for a gym membership to this YMCA just to get pool access. Their cardio and weights suck. But I don't want to pay $59 a month for my current membership plus $47 a month to the Y just for pool access just for me. There's got to be a better way.

I got 20 miles on the stationary bike last night in 62:50. Almost 3 minutes slower than target speed of 20 mph. Gaaaaaahhhhhh, just missed it. But that's allright, I had the resistance jacked up high, and had it set to the hardest hill routine, so it still left my legs feeling shredded. and that was a blast. Monday night (supposedly the start of b2b training) Kelley was under the weather, and tuesday night was the swimming lesson. So yesterday I did some yoga, hit the weights nice and hard during the early morning, and got this bike ride in at night. It feels so good to be back into a hard training routine.

I ended up missing the viewing party tuesday night. So the birthday ended up being completely uneventful. But that's ok, I don't like to make a big deal out of it anyway. thanks for all of the well wishes though guys! I really appreciate that.

I want to keep the same basic patterns for the b2b training that I did for the oly/marathon plan. Speedy tuesday run intervals, thursday tempo run/brick, and saturday long run. I need to add in a sunday long bike ride and some swimming to that. So maybe i'll be able to get a mile or so in the pool, and get a run or bike/run brick in at the gym after the kids go to bed.

Last night was not fun. Bigun would not go to sleep, and she has a doctors appointment (complete with shots) this morning so she's going to be really cranky, just like she was last night. About 3 am this morning I was up with a horrible migraine; the kind I haven't had in years. Could not get back to sleep, nausea, it was rough. Bigun woke up then too. I even heard EG let out a whimper of dis-approval, and Kelley was up as well. Not good. Took some excedrin migraine which has caffeine, so I knew I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. Around 5 am, the headache subsided and I fell asleep in a chair in the living room for a couple of hours. But my nutrition is all out of whack, I should have eaten more after the bike ride last night. So today is off to a disgusting start. Let's hope it ends better.

First? Not sure how I feel about being alone with you in the same blog-space, Cletus. O, wait, I do know. I don't like it. Not one bit.

But anyroad, good job on the bike.

Glad the girls enjoy the water. Little kids in pools are so much fun!

You better eat after hour-long workouts. That should help with the headaches. i've never had a migraine, but Teh 'B gets 'em on occasion.

And NO, NOT just when I want to have sex! I know how your mind, works, Cletus, and you TOTALLY would have gone there.

I'm sure millions of women across the US and Canada instantly get headaches when you want to have sex, Glaven. Not even with them, it just happens. Kind of like a butterfly effect. I'm sure your sex drive also cripples gay men as well even if you're not hitting on them at the time.

So just think, someone, somewhere hundreds of miles away from you is doubled over in pain right now thanks to you. and it's not me.

If I were you, I wouldn't want to pay that much for Y membership either. I thought the Y was supposed to be cheap, but that's just as much as any other gym membership!

Dehydration will keep me up at night. Recovery eating and drinking is muy importante, evidently :-)

Sorry about the migrane, bro!! Hope your day turns around...

Sorry you're having such a rough start to the morning! Hope the day picks up for you and you can keep getting in sneaky laps at the pool!

I hereby grant you permission ot restart your day. From now on all that other crap was yesterday and today is going swimmingly!

Speaking of swimming, the YMCA is expensive. I wish I could forward you my membership. I pay every month, but do not swim NEARLY as often as I should.

Sorry to hear that the morning is off to a bad start!

Think positive.

Hopefully your day gets better!

That's great the kids are loving swim lessons! I taught lessons for 4 years and the young kids (5 and under) were always my favourite. Any older and they were a little too snotty for my taste.

I used to sneak in laps while I taught because I'd get 15 minute breaks here and there so I'd usually do laps when I had my breaks. Geez, that, plus teaching aquafit every morning must have been why I was way fitter when I worked at the pool!!

I don't blame you for not wanting to pay extra for the pool...I say be sneaky! Sounds like a really crappy morning, I hope the day is going better for you now.

You know what I think - that insurance should pay for the gym. That would be awesome. Good luck :)

Happy belated!

Keep on sneaking in those swims. Give it to the man!

any way they'd let you pay for *just* pool access? that is a pretty steep membership for a place with lousy weights...
