Smashing Success

Talk about timing.  Thursday afternoon our A/C unit at the house.  We didn't realize it until thursday night when Kelley noticed it was 81* inside the house.  It was well over 90 outside.  This is not a good sign when you've got family coming into town for the weekend and a kids birthday party on Saturday.  Really the only way it could get worse if is the repair was going to be drawn out or expensive.

Well Friday the repairman came out and told us the compressor was shot.  Fortunately the unit is still under warranty so the repair is only going to be around $400, that hurts but could be much worse.  The bad part was that the replacement compressor is in Greensboro and couldn't get here until Monday.  So no A/C for the weekend or the birthday party and having the family in town.

The good news was that the weekend was unusually cool for June.  Friday it only got up to 80, Saturday's high was only 74, then Sunday it only got back up to about 79.  Today is supposed to be 80 again, and I've kind of enjoyed sleeping with the windows open.

The birthday party was great.  Evil Genius turned 5 on thursday, and we had a great turnout of kids for the party on Saturday.  We pulled out the kiddie pool and some water toys thinking that it was going to be warmer than it was.  Some of the kids were shivering cold but still wouldn't get out of there.  It turned out fantastic.
Kelley drying off the EG outside of the pool, that's her dad sitting behind her.

EG's arranged marriage partner went all Hef after shivering in the pool.

Bigun got to have her friend Grace come over so she'd have someone her age to play with.

Give an Evil Genius red cake and mayhem will ensue.

She was totally showered with presents.  What 5 year old wouldn't love that?
All the kids got along really well, and we got to hang out with some really cool parents too.  Lots of fun all the way around.

After the party, Kelley caught Bigun in some cool light and snapped another pic that is so cool I have to share:

The weather turned out great for the party and we didn't miss the AC at all.  Sunday was another story.  I woke up Sunday morning about 6:45 with a migraine so intense I actually puked.  That hasn't happened since I found chiropractic care in 2006.  Looks like I'm going to get an adjustment today.  I didn't drink the gallon of water that I normally take in on Saturday, so I think I was a bit dehydrated combined with poor sleep and it just did me in.

So the entire morning was spent medicating and drinking coffee and water trying to find a way to feel better.  Finally by about 1 pm the migraine was gone so I did a little yardwork and finally headed to the gym for a workout.  I got in a 30 mile bike/5 mile run brick in just over 2 hours.  Felt fantastic just to be in the gym after such a rough morning.

Now it's back to work and waiting on the AC repairman to get here with the new compressor.  Hope you had a fun weekend!  Congrats to all my friends that smashed Rev3 Quassy and the Hawaii 70.3 this weekend!

The party looks like it was a blast! Those temps still sound pretty hot to me, lol but I'm glad it wasn't scorching when you were without A/C!

The weather was really on your side. Awesome! I love sleeping with the windows open and there is such limited opportunity for it.

Your girls are growing up so fast! I am glad the party went well and that the temps weren't TOO hot.

Ugh, migraines are horrid. I had one on my trip to Denver in early May and it was horrible.

I love that EG has a little Hef already. That party looks like fun. In fact, I could use some red cake right now.
