Back to the grindstone

There's something about shaving my legs again that brings on some accountability. If you're going to put something out there like that, it better be sexy. That means hitting those workouts harder and harder every week. I got things kicked off right today with a strength workout before work today. Then 40 laps in the pool over lunch were quite righteous. I've been going through a Total Immersion book and really tried to use some of their techniques and drills today. I gotta say, it was awesome. Took two strokes off of my typical lap! I can't believe it. In swimming efficiency = speed. You will end up faster if it takes you 12 strokes to get across the pool instead of 16. I regularly went from 17 to 15 strokes today, so that's a pretty nice improvement. Then after work I hit 20 miles on the bike, easy effort (read: little hill resistance) but fast.

Nothing like a nice triple to start the week off right! The legs get sexy with bike miles and run miles. Tomorrow should bring AM yoga, lunchtime bike hill work, and an after work 5 mile tempo run. Also tomorrow I have a chiropractor appointment. Trying a new guy here in Raleigh, I'm excited to finally get an adjustment. But it means I most likely won't get the bike work in unless I brick it after work. hmmmmm...... a brick. what a novel idea.

In "something scary" news, I've been listed by Run Reviews as one of the Most Influential Runners! And here I thought my biggest influence was getting Ryan to admit he was gay-ish. Run Reviews posts treadmill reviews and workouts, and is becoming quite popular. You know I log tons and tons of miles on the 'mill. In fact, this week's thursday long run is scheduled for 15 miles, and will be done after work. It's too dark and cold to go outside then so it's off to the mill I go. And I feel quite honored to be included in their Most Influential Runners list. Got to add that one to the left nav.

If you shave, you gotta be ready to commit, guy, girl, whateves. It sucks and I can't believe guys volunteer for that shit.

I hate a treadmill but the runreview peeps are very nice.

15 miles on the treadmill? Wow. I top out at 6. And that was once.

Congrats on getting the shout out from Run Reviews!

The only leg shaving I've ever done is when I knew that I was going to be taped and taking the tape off would take all leg hair off too in the most painful way imaginable.

If it works for you, so be it, but don't start thinking about anything Brazilian now though. There is accountability and there is just plain wrong.

Kudo's on Runreview.

From one "Fitness Ambassador" to another, that's awesome. :)

And I agree with others: you can't tease us by saying you shaved your legs and then NOT post a picture. :(

I got confused after reading the first sentence and thought I was at a chick blog. Then I realized it was your blog, so it's all good. ;)

Congrats on the bloggy recognition!

What's your secret for surviving the dreadmill? I'm having a tough time at the moment. Help me, Obi-Wan.

I feel the same way about my fancy bike now that I have one I better get my butt in gear and not be a pansy that has nice equiptment but can't ride =).

I am probably the only person around that actually likes the treadmill! I love that it keeps my pace consistent.

Great way to kick off the week!

Holy smokes? Can I have you autograph? What an honor!! Good for you!

The leg shaving is intense. I hope you don't have to do it as often us ladies do because it is such a pain. Ah, the things we do for men.

Anywho. You've been getting in some great workouts lately. I must admit, I've kind of been slacking a bit. Just running 4 miles each day to maintain some mileage. Mostly that it due to the fact that all the f'ing resolutioners are clogging up my gym. I need to get a treadmill next to a fan since my Y thinks it's necessary to keep the place at like 9,000 degrees. So if I am not next to a fan, I pretty much die.

Alright, I've tmi'd enough for one comment. Peace out.

Congrats on the "Most Influential Runners" list John! I put a little "sometin sometin" on my blog for ya, and emailed all my race buds to check you out! That is awesome!!

Leg shaving...a few of us Wisconsinites have been tossing this around. I don't know...but the time I crashed on my Trek back in '06, let me tell ya, I wished I had shaved them. Road and rock rash from my hip to foot. Yowzers!

wow, congrats on the runReviews honor. :)

And I'm impressed by pretty much any treadmill runs. Seriously, does anyone actually LIKE those things?

Yes, shaving the legs is a commitment. I do it because my calves look damn good. If you are strong enough to run 15 miles you can shave the legs. But make sure you use a new razor every time. It works for me. :)

Shaving is totally overrated!!!
Women do it all the time and hate it. Time consuming and neverending battle. Does it really make anyone faster? Really? Oh well, pasty white winter hairless legs are better the pasty white winter hairy legs!
