Today

The past couple of days have been pretty boring. Work has been absolultely slammed. Next friday I'm taking the day off to travel to kentucky for the marathon. And everything has already started piling up. It's crap, I tell ya. all crap.

Today is National Running Day, so I am going to get a run in just to participate. Should be about 4 miles of 1k speedwork, but who knows. Might be a tempo run instead.

I'm also going to throw the bike up on the trainer this morning and do my tri power workout. We have a staff meeting this morning, which means I just have to listen to a skype call. this is when working from home gets awesome!

Hopefully I can finish work at a reasonable hour today. I've had to work late the last 2 days. Nobody is thrilled about that. But the plan is to run after work today. Then tomorrow, I'll be able to go back to the folks house for a swim/bike brick instead of my normal indoor bike/run brick.

We had a little visitor outside last night:

Yep, a 4' black snake showed up in the firewood pile right outside my office window. That sucker was hungry too, and might have a nest in the bottom of the wood pile. I tried to pick it up to move it to the vacant lot next door where there are tons of yummy mice, and the little prick struck at me! I left it alone after that, but it stayed in the wood pile. I did pull my hand back before it actually bit me. Black snakes are good to have around. This guy will keep the squirrels and rabbits out of my garden. Still a FOUR FOOT LONG SNAKE will also scare the hell out of Kelley and the kids.

I'm glad it's hump day. Only four more days until the triathlon, and 11 days until the marathon! Be well, runners.

Just don't tell'em its there. They'll probably never see it. Black snakes only bite when they are scared. Too bad we don't bite back :-)

Ah-HA!!! That's what I need to get rid of my mice!

We do find a couple of snakes around here on occasion. I'll just have to corral one, that's all.

Hey, National Running Day. Dam, I missed it! Oh well, I will get a run in tomorrow AM around 4:30, before work, quick 5k.

How is the marathon training going? Im interested in seeing how you do (fine Im sure!), as Im just starting my running program for the Milw Marathon on Oct 4th.

Also-when are you doing Tri's in this mix of marathon training? Ive got a Sprint next month, I think it will fit in OK with the training plan??

Your upcoming races are just so exciting!

That snake would scare me! And the thought of it eating a mouse just makes me squeamish. Ahh! That's why I have David :)

Good luck in the final days before the big races (and getting through work!)!

OK - I have to stop reading blogs for the day. Gazelle posted about spiders and included a picture with waaaaay too many eyes and then you post that creepy, slinky, horrid snake. BLECK. I am done. (And I missed National Running Day so I need to go sulk anyway.) Peace.
