I am so glad August is over. It's usually much worse than it was this year with the Carolina heat and humidity. Labor Day is supposed to be the last day of summer here, which is enough reason for me to celebrate. This year it was also the hottest day of the summer, and that does not bode well for the rest of September.
August 2014:
Swim: 20,300m 8 swims, 1 race
Bike: 462 miles, 12 rides, 1 race
Run: 119.1 miles, 12 runs, 1 race
Strength: once
Yoga: 7 times
Most of that mileage was the last 2 weeks of the Ironman Build phase including the Lake Logan half iron on August 3rd. And of course if I had known I was going to end up with 119.1 run miles I would have freaking finished out the last 0.9 for an even 120. argh. Anytime I can top 400 miles on the bike you know it's the middle of Ironman training. And a 20,000+ meter month is a solid month in the pool. So I'm totally ok with these numbers.
It's race week! I did an easy hour on the bike today, and Tuesday I'll get in a swim practice. Wednesday is an easy run and that is it. I feel so glad to be done with cycling for the year. Really once I got into the rhythm of the workouts every week it wasn't so bad. Most years when I finish the bike leg at the end of my last triathlon for the year, I'm ready for the bike to go wheels up. This year is no exception.
Right now the hay is in the barn! I'm ready for the trip. It's about a 9 hour drive from Raleigh up to Ohio. Ready for the race, Rev3 Cedar Point is going to be a blast! I have friends racing from all over the country coming in. Bring it on!

Happy race week! I hope you get to the start line feeling refreshed, well-rested and ready to kick this race's butt! I can totally see why you are so over biking by the time the IM rolls around. I kind of get that way when marathon training about running.
